Outdoor Pleasures In and Around Mifflinburg

Biking and Hiking

Biking and Hiking are popular with Mifflinburgers and visitors alike. Buffalo Creek and the Koons Hiking Trail meander along the north edge of town. At one point, the creek is crossed by Hassenplug Covered Bridge (right) on North 4th Street.

A rail-to-trail, Penns Creek Path provides the only part of the Mid State Trail that is considered "bikable."

Hunting and Fishing

Just a few miles south of town is Penns Creek, one of the premiere fishing streams in Pennsylvania. You'll also find a hunters paradise in the surrounding mountains where you can hunt turkey, whitetail and black bear in season.

Scenic Drives

Rich farmland surrounds Mifflinburg. Many of these farms are Amish and Mennonite owned, and it is not unusual to find yourself sharing the road with a horse and buggy.

During the summer months, you will find many roadside vegetable stands, with delicious local freshly picked farm produce for sale.
