Annual Events in Mifflinburg
JUNE-AUGUST
Concerts in the Park feature a variety of music including country and western, big band and rock throughout the summer months. Visit the Calendar of Events to see what’s playing at the Gazebo.
JULY
Mifflinburg’s Independence Day Celebration is held each year in the Community Park. Highlights include the annual 5K Run & Kids Fun Run, pet parade, chicken barbecue, games, entertainment and a multi-level fireworks display. Get the full schedule from the Calendar of Events.
The popular Blueberries & Bluegrass Festival takes place on the third Friday of July in the Community Park. Enjoy a wonderful Bluegrass concert, indulge in great food and everything blueberry you can imagine including Sally Miller’s famous “blueberry whoopee pies.”
The annual Fireman’s Carnival is held the last week of July. The five-day carnival, featuring lots of food, games and rides, wraps up on Saturday with a huge Fireman’s Parade that marches down Chestnut Street to the carnival grounds.
AUGUST
The Union County West End Fair is held at Laurel Park, Laurelton in early August each year. The fair features events for all ages, including the Miss Union County West End Fair pageant, a Talent Show, Senior citizens day, Youth night and a Kid’s Day.
Youth and adults living in Union County have the opportunity to participate in the showing and sale of livestock, display and exhibit competitions, 4H and FFA activities and tractor pulls.
OCTOBER
Celebrating Mifflinburg’s German heritage, Oktoberfest takes place the first weekend of October. Families enjoy hay rides, marionette shows, musical entertainment, traditional German foods, beverages, German beers and American favorites as well.
DECEMBER
The Mifflinburg Holiday House Tour takes place on the first Sunday in December and is a beautiful showcase of local historic homes and landmarks decorated for the holidays. Entertainment and tasty finger foods are included.
Mifflinburg’s most popular event is the Christkindl Market, an authentic outdoor German Market. Held on the second week of December for three days, Mifflinburg’s Market Street is transformed into a traditional outdoor German Christmas market with pine covered wooden huts lining the street.
At each hut you’ll find something different – unique arts, crafts and delicious foods. There is also continuous entertainment and German sit down dinners to enjoy.
