MHRA is an IRS recognized 501c3 nonprofit organization. Donations are tax deductible and receipts will be provided. Donations go toward the organizational operations, the maintenance of our historic properties and our ongoing historic preservation efforts. MHRA is not state or federally funded and appreciates and thanks you for your contributions.

Annual Events in Mifflinburg
Mifflinburg’s MayFest is a wine festival with live music all day, food vendors, arts and crafts, kids’ activities and a Maypole. The event is held at the VFW Carnival grounds at 10770 Old Turnpike Road just 1 mile west of Mifflinburg on Route 45.
Mifflinburg’s Independence Day Celebration is held each year in the Community Park. Highlights include the annual 5K Run & Kids Fun Run, pet parade, chicken barbecue, games, entertainment and a multi-level fireworks display. Get the full schedule from the Calendar of Events.
MHRA and the Mifflinburg Buggy Museum will present a one day History Day Camp for children ages 5 to 12. Now in it’s 5th year, this experience changes its focus yearly on events and life of centuries gone by in the Mifflinburg area. Hours are 9 am to 3 pm and the cost is $15 per child.
The popular Blueberries & Bluegrass Festival takes place on the third Friday of July in the Community Park. Enjoy a wonderful Bluegrass concert, indulge in great food and everything blueberry you can imagine including our famous “blueberry whoopee pies.”
This year there will be a Children’s Theater Camp from July 18 – July 22 from 9 am to 3 pm at the Elias. Bright Star National Children’s Theatre Company will be sending 2 actor/educators to lead the children in learning about theater from scriptwriting and character development to design and direction. The annual Fireman’s Carnival is held the last week of July. The five-day carnival, featuring lots of food, games and rides, wraps up on Saturday with a huge Fireman’s Parade that marches down Chestnut Street to the carnival grounds.
The Union County West End Fair is held at Laurel Park, Laurelton in early August each year. The fair features events for all ages, including the Miss Union County West End Fair pageant, a Talent Show, Senior citizens day, Youth night and a Kid’s Day.
Youth and adults living in Union County have the opportunity to participate in the showing and sale of livestock, display and exhibit competitions, 4H and FFA activities and tractor pulls.
Celebrating Mifflinburg’s German heritage, Oktoberfest takes place the first Friday and Saturday of October. Families enjoy hay rides, marionette shows, musical entertainment, traditional German foods, beverages, German beers and American favorites as well.
On the Sunday after Thanksgiving, joins us for our Business Open House from 4 pm to 8 pm with downtown businesses decorated for the holidays and offering their hospitality, specials and treats. Then stay for the Community Tree Lighting at 7 pm with a visit from Santa, music for singing and refreshments at the fire hall.
Mifflinburg’s Winterfest coincides with the Christkindl Market and is held at the 1806 restored Elias Church. Music performed on Saturday by the Black Tie choral group singing music of the season. In addition, enjoy a schnapps, hot buttered rum or Irish coffee to take away the winter cold.
Mifflinburg’s most popular event is the Christkindl Market, an authentic outdoor German Market. Held on the second week of December for three days, Mifflinburg’s Market Street is transformed into a traditional outdoor German Christmas market with pine covered wooden huts lining the street.
At each hut you’ll find something different – unique arts, crafts and delicious foods. There is also continuous entertainment and German sit down dinners to enjoy.
